Your belt is your belt.
Para athletes compete at ABJJF India on the same terms as everybody else — the same divisions, the same brackets, the same verified rank on the same passport.
What this means in practice
Para-only events
Registering as a para athlete is what makes you eligible. That is the only thing registration does. None are scheduled yet — we would rather say so than list a date we cannot keep.
Regular tournaments
Open to you now, with no extra step. No need to register as a para athlete, declare anything, or be classified. You enter like any other competitor, in your belt, age and weight division.
Your passport
Your name, your academy, your verified belt. It says nothing about para status — not on the public lookup, not when an official scans it, not anywhere. A passport proves a rank is real, and your rank is real.
Registering as a para athlete
It takes one screen in your account: tick that you are a para athlete, and choose the classification that fits. The federation then confirms it against evidence — the same way a belt is verified before a bracket, and for the same reason.
Registering restricts nothing, and you can withdraw at any time. It never moves you out of ordinary competition, and it is never shown publicly.
- Limb difference or amputation
- Impaired muscle power
- Impaired range of movement
- Neurological — including hypertonia, ataxia, athetosis
- Competes seated / wheelchair user
- Vision impairment
- Hearing impairment / Deaf
- Intellectual impairment
These groupings record what an impairment is. They are not the competitive divisions — how para divisions are drawn will be settled once the federation has run its first para event and taken proper advice, with the athletes involved rather than for them.
